Welcome
Katie Sellars | B.Sc, DC
Dr. Sellars received her undergraduate education from the University of Western Ontario where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree with a minor in Psychology. She continued her education at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College and graduated as a Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) in 2009. In addition to her chiropractic training, Dr. Sellars is also fully certified in Contemporary Medical Acupuncture through McMaster University and has attended several specialized soft tissue technique and adjustment seminars. She is a member of both the Ontario Chiropractic Association (OCA) and the Canadian Chiropractic Association (CCA).
As a licensed chiropractor, Dr. Sellars specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide variety of conditions and disorders relating to the skeletal, nervous, and muscular systems. She believes firmly in treating the source of the problem rather than the symptoms alone. Dr. Sellars believes that education and proper communication is imperative to patient care. When people understand why their pain or dysfunction is occurring, it enables them to make the changes necessary to correct the problem at hand.
In April of 2009, Dr. Sellars had the privilege of travelling to Santo Domingo, DR, with a group of 11 of her peers on a Chiropractors Without Borders mission (www.chiropractiquesansfrontieres.ca) where she was given the opportunity to treat an extremely vast range of conditions in a population of largely underprivileged patients. The group treated everyone who made the trip to their locations, from babies to individuals who “stopped counting their birthdays once they reached 100”. The experience greatly enhanced Dr. Sellars’ strong belief in, and passion for, her work as it allowed her to see first hand the effects of chiropractic care in a completely unbiased population.
Dr. Sellars works at two clinics in the Kitchener-Waterloo region (see Clinics tab). Treatments may include spinal adjustment, extremity adjusting, acupuncture, electro-modalities, soft tissue therapy, custom orthotics, exercise prescription, and lifestyle and nutritional advice.
